2027 CAP Camp Counselor + Lifeguard
Position Summary:
As an overnight Camp Counselor, you will create a safe, inclusive, and fun-filled camp experience for all campers. Living in a unit alongside a co-counselor and up to 24 campers, you will oversee all aspects of campers' daily routines, guide them through their weekly schedule, and participate in, teach, and assist with camp activities.
As the Lifeguard, you will actively maintain water safety by surveying swimming zones, enforcing safety rules, and responding quickly to emergencies to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all campers and staff. You will work closely with waterfront and camp leadership to uphold high safety standards, monitor swimmer ability levels, and maintain a vigilant presence at all times during waterfront activities.
Room and board are provided for the duration of employment

Responsibilities:
Co-supervise a unit of up to 30 campers (ages 8–17), leading activities, modeling positive behavior, and managing camper conduct
Teach camp programming, including Girl Scout badges, archery, outdoor cooking, fire building, low ropes, team building, night hikes, mountain biking, overnight camping, and group games
Support Program Staff in Arts & Crafts, STEM, and Waterfront areas with group management, supply setup/breakdown, and camper engagement
Participate with campers in all activities, campfires, field trips, and group games
Supervise campers during meals and rest hour
Provide excellent customer service to families and visitors
Assist with property upkeep, including cleaning bathrooms, tidying shared spaces, and reporting supply issues
Complete daily sanitation practices, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces
Help in the kitchen as needed (dishes, cleaning, meal prep/service)
Foster a positive, supportive work environment
Follow all camp policies and procedures
Lifeguard the swim or boating area up to four times daily for camper groups ages 8–17
Conduct swim checks for all campers
Organize and inventory waterfront supplies
Other duties as assigned

Experience Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old and have graduated high school or its equivalent
Must be comfortable living in a rustic camp environment with limited cell phone service and internet access
Experience working with children, preferred
Committed to fostering a positive, fun, and team-oriented work environment
Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
Flexible, creative, and adaptable to changing situations
Able to work long hours and be on call as needed
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to organize others
Certification Requirements
Valid Lifeguard Certificate from an ACA recognized organization
Idaho Food Handlers Certification
