Position Summary:
The Development Coordinator advances the council’s fundraising goals by coordinating high-quality events and delivering consistent, donor-centered stewardship. This position manages event logistics, donor acknowledgements, database accuracy, reporting, and ongoing engagement to strengthen relationships with active and prospective donors, sponsors, and community partners. Reporting to the Development and Partnership Manager, the Development Coordinator will also contribute to department planning, strategy, and innovation.

Essential Functions

Events & Community Engagement
  • Lead the planning and execution of the Council’s two major annual fundraising events, including event strategy, timelines, budgets, committees, logistics, registration, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, communications, guest experience, and post-event evaluation.
  • Provide ongoing leadership for the Council’s largest fundraiser, GLAMP.
  • Develop and launch a second signature fundraising event that expands community awareness, strengthens donor and partner engagement, and generates sustainable philanthropic revenue.
  • Coordinate the Council’s participation in third-party fundraising and community events, serving as the primary liaison with host organizations and coordinating internal staff, volunteers, logistics, promotion, and event-day engagement.
  • Research and identify strategic community events, partnership opportunities, and visibility opportunities; assess their value and coordinate Council participation to support relationship building, recruitment, fundraising, and community awareness.
  • Represent the Council at selected donor, partner, community, and awareness-building events to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for future engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Plan and execute older girl engagement opportunities, (including the Teen Advisory Committee,) and alumnae engagement opportunities that elevate girl voice, demonstrate the impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and build a pipeline from older girl participation to lifelong alumnae engagement by reconnecting, reconnect former Girl Scouts to the Council’s mission, and create pathways to volunteerism, advocacy, partnership, ambassadorship, and philanthropic support.
  • Organize and maintain fund development events and outreach materials and inventory.
Donor Stewardship
  • Coordinate the Council’s donor stewardship process to ensure consistent, timely, and meaningful donor experiences that demonstrate impact and strengthen ongoing engagement.
  • Support leadership with reporting including fundraising pacing and the Board Dashboard.
  • Develop and expand CRM functionality and coordinate expense reporting and coding for tracking.
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising, stewardship, and donor engagement campaigns in partnership under the guidance of the Fund Development Team, including coordinating timelines, communications, acknowledgements, recognition, and follow-up.
  • Maintain and coordinate stewardship activities and reporting for donors, prospects, sponsors, corporate and community partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate timely, accurate, and personalized gift acknowledgements, stewardship communications, tax statements, and other donor correspondence based on gift level, campaign, and relationship.
  • Maintain an annual stewardship calendar that tracks donor appreciation, recognition, impact reporting, engagement opportunities, and other relationship-building touchpoints.
  • Work with the Fund Development team to identify and execute opportunities to deepen relationships, increase engagement, and support donor retention, renewal, and continued investment.
  • Coordinate donor, sponsor, grantor, and in-kind partner recognition across events, campaigns, digital communications, and Council publications, ensuring recognition commitments are fulfilled accurately and consistently.
  • Coordinate stewardship and recognition activities across the development team and ensure follow-up actions and commitments are completed.
Marketing
  • Serve as the liaison between the fund development team and marketing including fundraising events, donor engagement, stewardship, and other development initiatives.
  • Develop written and visual content for development events, donor communications, email campaigns, newsletters, community calendars, website content, and social media.
  • Coordinate development-related marketing materials and ensure messaging is consistent with Council and GSUSA branding, resources, and communication standards.
Other
  • Serve as member of the internal Strategic Community Outreach Team.
  • Adhere to Council and GSUSA policies, standards, procedures and Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Support and promote the Girl Scouts’ commitment to access and belonging.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fund development, event coordination, communications, or related fiel
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in maintaining databases (Salesforce, Bloomerang, or other donor databases preferred)
  • Proficient in database administration, data entry, data quality control, and producing reports
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising best practices
  • Excellent writing and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work independently within a strong team working toward common goalsAbility to work with design software and online media and giving platforms, preferred
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and processes
Additional Requirements 
  • Ability to drive to meetings and hold a driver’s license acceptable to Council’s insurance company 
  • Ability to work flexible hours for meetings, events, and activities that occur outside of traditional work hours
  • Ability to move and transport meeting supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
